🦇 Sinners has made movie history as the first film to earn 16 Oscar nominations.
📚 The cast of A24’s Edgar Allan Poe adaptation is shaping up nicely, with Léa Seydoux the latest star confirmed. She will play a scheming lady-in-waiting in The Masque of the Red Death.
😷 A release date for Mike Flanagan’s take on The Exorcist has finally dropped, though fans face a lengthy wait. It is currently slated for release in March 2027.
🐩 One of the year’s most anticipated releases has added yet more talent to its cast. Robert Eggers’ 13th Century-set creature feature Werwolf is due to release in late December.
👻 An as-yet untitled new Paranormal Activity film has taken a huge step forward, setting a May 2027 release date. It will be the eighth film in the spooky found-footage franchise.
😱 The Conjuring fans can rejoice, as prequel film The Conjuring: First Communion also has a release date. It is expected in September 2027, and while the plot remains under wraps, it is expected to cover some new ground, according to franchise producer Peter Safran.

Did I mention it was my birthday? 😏 I turned the stinking old age of 31 this week which now rules me out of the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, my days as a 26-30 railcard owner and perhaps worst of all, seamlessly working knees.
For any other Aquarians in the room, I’ve unearthed a fantastic little list of birthday-themed horror films on IMDb which I will no doubt be indulging in this weekend.
Child’s Play being on there is playing a little too fast and loose with the theme for my liking, but there’s some hidden gems (and total duds no doubt) that should bulk out the ol’ watch list.
Speaking of… you definitely need to check out this week’s recommendation. It’s one of the best horror shows I’ve ever seen.

A spectacular, horror-filled fever dream awaits you in the shape of Netflix mini-series Brand New Cherry Flavor. It is a grisly tale of revenge, power and witchcraft.
My advice is to swerve the synopsis and dive right in, because this is an experience first and foremost. If you need a little more though, the story centres around an aspiring and naïve young filmmaker who travels to Hollywood with a big idea that she is tricked into signing away the rights to.
Thankfully a mysterious witch has the solution to her woes, but she requires payment in kittens of the vomited up variety… among other things.

We’ve finally had a proper glimpse of the adaptation of wildly popular horror game The Mortuary Assistant and fans are losing their minds over the first look.
The story centres around a newly-hired mortician Rebecca Owens (Willa Holland) as she takes on her first night shift. As if dealing with corpses wasn’t terrifying enough, she soon comes up against supernatural forces hellbent on ruining her day.
Those who have played the game have been pretty impressed by how faithful the adaptation appears to be from the trailer alone, but if you want a direct comparison, here’s what the video game is like 👇
